In response to reports from Jorma and others regarding problems with commas in MakeMyMap 1.2 I have improved the functionality to trap this and other problems.
Since you folks have taken the time to give me feedback, I'll give you first opportunity to try the new version.
Please let me know if it works then I will put a link on the main page.

Here is the fixed version: http://users.bigpond.net.au/ian_pendlebury/makemapsetup130.exe

Re: Portrait/Landscape setting

August 8, 2009 by mymotion

The program does not assume portrate or landscape, it uses the dimensions as supplied by the system. It also supports changing orientation while active. There is no user setting for this, it is automatic.
If it is not working then the new dimensions are not being passed to the OS correctly, maybe due to whatever utility you are using. Changing orientation should work, I have tested it on several different devices.

Use the arrow keys on your device, or if you have no hardware arrows use those on the virtual keyboard.

Re: Welcome Message to New Members

Hi paliadim,

No there are no guidelines or manual, I've been too lazy to write one. Sorry.
There is some online help within Mymotion (not complete though).
Probably the best source of information is this forum, if you can take the time to search.

I don't think anyone has asked about "display track" before. It would not surprise me if it has some limitations on what was in the .kml file and probably needs some debugging. If you could send me the kml file you are trying to use, that would help me a lot (use the Messages option from this forum and send me a private email with the kml file attached). If you do that I promise to look into it.

Re: Revisiting Summary for each file?

March 14, 2009 by mymotion

Hi Sparko,

Mymotion should do exactly what you want: open up a previously recorded track and allow you to look at the summary data. It is something I do regularly.
Not sure why it is not working for you, possibly something to do with the way you have the GPS com port mapped?
I guess (strictly speaking) I should close the GPS com port when a file is open (since Mymotion will ignore the GPS data until reset), but I've never had it cause a problem or have it reported as a problem...until now. Next time I do an update I will look at this.
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: GPS with WinCE

January 18, 2009 by mymotion

Hi Chuck,

Exception: 0xC00000FD indicates "stack overflow". I have not seen this before.
What works prior to the crash and where does the crash actually occur?
Is there plenty of free memory (both program and storage)?

Just in case it is a difference in default stack space on Windows CE I have built a test version with much bigger reserved stack. I will send you a private message with download instructions.

In my collection of gadgets have a Navman S50, which is not full Windows Mobile - possibly some version of WinCe, I was able to get MyMotion running using instructions from here: http://navmanunlocked.wikispaces.com/Install+Programs . Whilst not the same situation, some of the dlls and instructions listed in here might help you (maybe ExecutabilityCheck ?).

Version 1.14 that allows user definable file name formats is now posted.
You can get it from the main page http://users.bigpond.net.au/ian_pendlebury/mymad.htm
Go to the tracks tab under preferences to see the new option.

Hi Chuck,

Here is the list of system dlls loaded by MyMotion on a Windows Mobile 2003 emulator, this might help you identify what is missing off your system:

tshres.96.dll
shutil.dll
shellres.dll
tshres.dll
commctrl.dll
aygshell.dll
cellcore.dll
oleaut32.dll
ole32.dll
ossvcs.dll
ws2.dll
coredll.dll
compime.dll

Do you really mean Windows CE 5.0 or do you mean Windows Mobile 5.0? They are not necessarily the same. Windows Mobile is the target platform for MyMotion.

If you use File Explorer and find the folder Mymotion installed to, then tap MyMotion - does it work then? I'm wondering whether the installation failed for some reason.

Windows Mobile 5.0 or even 2003 should be fine, I test on both.
What exactly doesn't work? Is there an error message?

Re: Rave and Request

I will make the file name scheme user definable, so you can get what you want. Check back in a few days for a new build.

BTW I prefer 2 chars for the year to keep the name short (and visible in file manager). Anyway, it will be user definable...

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the UI to set the Waypoint is a bit clunky, but you figured it out :-) Probably the best way would be a context menu, I thought about that but it is also more complex. So, I think I will leave it like that for now if it is working OK.
Don't hesitate to make other requests in the future, I don't often have time to look at this, but when I do I enjoy it.

Re: Rave and Request

December 30, 2008 by mymotion

OK, I have implemented waypoints in version 1.13
You can get it from here: http://www12.asphost4free.com/ipendle/mymotion113.arm.cab
Not had much testing yet, so I would appreciate any feedback.

You can set a Waypoint from the menu, read in waypoints defined via Google Earth and save them back to a Google Earth file.

You can set waypoints to load each time by going to Preferences->Tracks where there is a new field.

Once loaded you can fly to/from waypoints same as you can for maps, using the File->FlyTo menu.

Currently there is a max of 512 waypoints and the FlyTo menu will only show the first 30 or so.

Thanks for the feedback.
That is a good suggestion about waypoints, I've got some time over the next couple of days so will see what I can do....

Re: mymotion on imate jasjam

Hi,

If the GPS signal is not good and the number of satellites drops then there may be some error in the position. Under poor signal conditions an occaisional 80m error wouldn't surprise me. This typically happens if you are close to tall trees, in woods or surrounded by buildings. It also sometimes happens (for me anyway) when out in heavy rain.
I don't think there is any generic problem with the software, it has had a lot of testing.
If you use in "run" mode there is some extra filtering and smoothing to try and take account for poor signal conditions.

I guess either Google Maps has some smoothing of its own, or maybe you used it under different conditions.

Re: MakeMYMap wont copy GE coordinates

November 29, 2008 by mymotion

There is a newer version here: http://users.bigpond.net.au/ian_pendlebury/makemapsetup144.exe
Worth a try, but I have not seen the problem you describe.
What versions of Windows and Ge do you have?
Do you have access to a different PC you could try?

The information you want is all available on the details screen, see below:

Re: Mymotion & Touch Diamond

November 5, 2008 by mymotion

I don't have access to an HTC so this is guesswork on my part.
I think the problem is down to the fact that I use OpenGL ES for MyMotion and apparently so does TouchFlo (according to this http://www.sanneblad.com/2008/08/05/touchflo-3d-technologies/ )
It may be that OpenGL does not like to applications trying to share the display at the same time, or some kind of conflict between the opengl dlls from me and Touchflo.
Since I don't have a device, probably the best thing to do is to try and work around.
Looks like you already had something : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2778822 I see your name is here. Did that workaround not work for you?

One thing you could try is stopping TF, starting MyMotion, then trying to start TF - what does that do? It should load up OpenGL in a different order, maybe throw some light on the problem.

You could also try copying the OpenGL dlls from whereever TF has installed them into the MyMotion install area, then MyMotion will try to use those. You can always re-install MyMotion if it fails.

However, I don't hold out much hope for solving this. If TF is really based on OpenGL ES it might just be that it won't allow any other OpenGL apps to run whilst it is running. Maybe you could point out this problem to HTC/TF - they run a business so should provide you with support.

Re: Error:Unable to unzip item Error code:200 on start up

October 20, 2008 by mymotion

Could you give me a bit more info:
  • what kind of device you have
  • how much program/storage memory is free prior to starting MyMotion
  • whether you are installed to main memory or SD card
  • exact error message (if any)
  • where the .tgz file came from (via MakeMyMap?)
  • does it work when you copy the tgz file directly to the SD card (as per your original post)

Save as KML/KMZ, send to PC then load in Google Earth

I have a CAB file but not enough space to keep a copy on my website.
If you send me a private message via this forum I can email it to you.

Re: Feature request: Record logs directly to disk

October 15, 2008 by mymotion

Good suggestions.

You can save at any time. Just go "Tools->File->Save" then carry on. If you run out of power you will have what you saved last.
I have thought about putting in an auto-save / recover; maybe if I get some time (next time I get a vacation) I will look at this.
