I just wanted to write and say I am loving MyMotion! It is the best sub-$50 GPS app I've seen for the PPC. It took me a while to get everything working, but now works great! I love being able to have an overview map and an inset, high-rez map.

The only thing lacking that I would find (very) helpful is the ability to create waypoints. I use it to map trails and landmarks. The trails part is perfect. For landmarks I have to guess the location based on stopping time. It would be great to be able to drop a "pin" and name it from within MyMotion. Thanks for giving this some consideration for future features.

Thanks for the feedback.
That is a good suggestion about waypoints, I've got some time over the next couple of days so will see what I can do....

OK, I have implemented waypoints in version 1.13
You can get it from here: http://www12.asphost4free.com/ipendle/mymotion113.arm.cab
Not had much testing yet, so I would appreciate any feedback.

You can set a Waypoint from the menu, read in waypoints defined via Google Earth and save them back to a Google Earth file.

You can set waypoints to load each time by going to Preferences->Tracks where there is a new field.

Once loaded you can fly to/from waypoints same as you can for maps, using the File->FlyTo menu.

Currently there is a max of 512 waypoints and the FlyTo menu will only show the first 30 or so.

HOLY COW!!! I feel like I have a genie in a lamp. You rock! Can't wait to load this up and hit the trails. Thank you so much.

I just wanted to share my experiences with 1.13 so far. The waypoint creation tool works nicely, assuming you read the prompt, which I failed to do the first few times expecting the point to be created at my current location rather than a subsequently clicked point on the map. Now that I know, I find the way you've implemented it to be more flexible than the way I might have found intuitive. The default waypoint database is a NICE feature, and works well even with a few hundred waypoints in the db! I must say I am surprised how robust the app is... it barely bogs down with a dozen maps and hundreds of waypoints! Awesome. And the integration with GEarth is flawless. Now if I could just figure out why my PPC keeps turning off Bluetooth in the middle of sessions, and a way to create maps on the Mac, I would be all set! Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the UI to set the Waypoint is a bit clunky, but you figured it out :-) Probably the best way would be a context menu, I thought about that but it is also more complex. So, I think I will leave it like that for now if it is working OK.
Don't hesitate to make other requests in the future, I don't often have time to look at this, but when I do I enjoy it.

Ok, one more suggestion. I always use the following date-stamp filenaming scheme: YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS because all the files will sort newest to oldest (or vice-versa, depending on sort). The scheme MyMotion currently uses will sort all the 15ths together regardless of month or year, which is not terribly helpful. I have a script that will rename them according to my preferred scheme, but I thought others might find this a useful change as well.

Oh, and a way to link to GE image data without building my own maps would rock! LOL

Still loving MyMotion, it is a very impressive app! Thanks again!

I will make the file name scheme user definable, so you can get what you want. Check back in a few days for a new build.

BTW I prefer 2 chars for the year to keep the name short (and visible in file manager). Anyway, it will be user definable...

Using YYMMDD-HHMMSS would work as well, unless you have tracks from last century, LOL.

Version 1.14 that allows user definable file name formats is now posted.
You can get it from the main page http://users.bigpond.net.au/ian_pendlebury/mymad.htm
Go to the tracks tab under preferences to see the new option.
