Hi and , firstly, thanks for a really enjoyable program. Very impressed.
I have it loaded on a a imate jasjam and use it for mountain biking and running while listening to music as well.
i have noticed that it will ocassionally place me about 80 metres to the south west of my actually location (not always) .
This doesn't happen when i use google maps mobile or live search maps mobile so don't think its a problem with the gps.
Just wondering if this a margin of error to be expected or if this is something fixable?
Cheers
Richard
Hi,
If the GPS signal is not good and the number of satellites drops then there may be some error in the position. Under poor signal conditions an occaisional 80m error wouldn't surprise me. This typically happens if you are close to tall trees, in woods or surrounded by buildings. It also sometimes happens (for me anyway) when out in heavy rain.
I don't think there is any generic problem with the software, it has had a lot of testing.
If you use in "run" mode there is some extra filtering and smoothing to try and take account for poor signal conditions.
I guess either Google Maps has some smoothing of its own, or maybe you used it under different conditions.
